We have been supporting YoungLives since 2005.
YoungLives is a unique program that teams up mature Christian women to provide teen moms in crisis with timely encouragement, guidance, and ongoing support. The teen moms come to YoungLives (YL) from East Valley junior high and high schools.
YoungLives has the privilege of extending Jesus Christ's love to teen moms as they are, where they are. YL mentors provide friendship, parenting advice and help meeting the practical demands of raising a child. Mentors come alongside teen moms in a way we believe Jesus would do: with compassion, support, and hope. These caring women model Jesus Christ's love by investing time and walking alongside them through difficult life situations.
- Once a month, YoungLives Club provides a place for teen moms to come together to have fun, build friendships, and hear a message about real life and God's love. Food, activities, music, and childcare are a part of every club meeting.
- Campaigner's Bible Study is offered twice a month to teen moms who wish to go deeper in their relationship with Jesus Christ. They meet in a mentors' home for dinner and study.
- Teen moms can attend YoungLives summer camp with their children up at Lost Canyon Camp in Williams, Arizona.
Set in beautiful surroundings and packed with adventure, young moms are given the opportunity to experience all the fun their peers do. From the pool and zip line to the ropes course and the pamper pole, there is no shortage of excitement. During camp, the young women get a break from their everyday schedule―thanks to childcare volunteers who look after their children. Teen moms get the chance to relax, play, and learn about God and His plan for their lives.
For the past four years, we have "adopted" teen moms and their babies to buy them Christmas gifts, providing 130-180 gifts each year. We have provided mentors, volunteers for child care, and helping out at Club and Campaigner's.
