Rocky Point Family MissionFebruary 12 thru 15, 2010

Rocky Point Family MissionThis is a mission journey for friends and families to build homes in Mexico. The home’s construction consists of a concrete floor, wood framed walls and roof with a stucco exterior. Each home has 2 doors, 2 windows and is a dream come true for a family. But there is more to this 242 square foot home, it is a vivid example of showing the love of Christ in a physical and unforgettable way.

Partnering with Amor Ministries, RMCC raised money and sent teams out with nothing more than tools, food and prayerful spirits. The cost to build one home was $4000, yet enough money was raised to build five homes.

In February 2009, a RMCC group of 155 strong (of which there were 79 kids ages 5 to 18) worked side by side to build the homes. Along with the home owners, they mixed cement in wheelbarrows, poured a foundation of love, framed walls of strength, secured a roof of protection, fastened doors and windows of hospitatlity, and stuccoed the house to hold it together as one.

Rocky Point Family Mission 2009

The journey gave students and their families a look at real poverty with everyone returning from the journey with a new perspective on life, along with a thankful heart for the things they have and enjoy as everyday needs and comforts.

Not only did the families work for, pray for and love the people of Mexico, but leading up to the journey they also worked with the whole body of believers to pray for these individual families, and to collect money and gifts to build the homes. In doing so, these members said they experienced deep relationships in the midst of their own financial struggles while building for someone they didn't know.
